Return to Work
NIRO’s physicians consult directly with the treating physicians to ensure patients are released to work based on the Official Disability Guidelines. The following questions will be addressed in each report:

• Should the patient return to work in a regular duty or temporary alternative position?
• What is the current disability status and what are the activity restrictions?
• What are the recommendations for further treatment to achieve maximum medical improvement (MMI), and when is the projected date for
MMI?

The following are several benefits of NIRO’s Return to Work Program that have been recognized:

• The time between date of injury and return to work has been significantly reduced
• Overutilization of medical resources is prevented while establishing reasonable, necessary, and qualitative care

Data from 2009 has proven that NIRO is approximately 80% effective at returning patients back to work.
